The Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation (CBCF) is a non-profit charitable funding organization, specifically focused on the funding of youth oriented individual and organizational educational programmes, including educational research and publications.

The establishment of the foundation came after much deliberation as to how Cable Bahamas Ltd. could fulfill its role as corporate citizen in a truly significant way. What Cable Bahamas sought to do was to give back to the community in a way that was productive, developmental and accessible to Bahamian youth, yet lasting in its effect on the community.

The foundation derives its base funding through an agreement with Cable Bahamas Ltd. which donates 1% of its net income to the foundation annually. Nevertheless, the Cable Bahamas Cares foundation operates as a totally independent funding body. CBCF holds formal application review meetings on a quarterly basis only.

Since its inception the Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation has received a total endowment of $1,683,445 and has disbursed $1,677,336 (YTD October 2010) through the awarding of 324 grants to local community organizations, as well as individual students. CBCF moved passed the $1,000,000 mark in grant award dollars awarded in 2008. The Average Grant has been $5,177.

Do you have a programme that involves our nations youth and is in need of funding? Call us at 356-8922 or e-mail us at kwisdom@cablebahamas.com and let us help.

The Cable Bahamas Cares Foundation wants you to know that the grants that have been given out thus far represent only the beginning of what the foundation hopes to do, in the many years to come, to foster the development and encouragement of that most precious of Bahamian natural resources…Bahamian youth.
